Why do we have speed and loading issues on the website?

When you visit a webpage, and the content loads right before your eyes, it's all delivered by a bunch of code. The majority of the world has no need (or frankly, the interest) in understanding that code. You simply want the code to do its job and deliver your pictures, images, and videos, you just want it to work how you want and when you want!

And it doesn't even matter if you're using a MacBook, an iPhone, Android, and for the special people amongst you, it doesn't even matter if you're using Windows. Because they all have one thing in common... They all use the genius of the internet browser!

Chrome, Safari, or Firefox all speak in a similar language so they can translate that code for you.

Whether the browser is showing you a public webpage or a members-only Dashboard inside Kajabi, it's still all powered by code.

But what happens when something interrupts that code?

How browser extensions impact the loading on the webpage

Because of the way the Internet works if you've got any applications (or extensions) that are plugged into your browser it could cause a lot of issues for you. For example, a password manager, google translator, or adobe acrobat may slow down your site. So, it's very important to switch off those ones you aren't using is this very moment. Especially if you use CMS like Kajabi or WordPress and everything is running super slowly.

The next thing you would need to do to make the website run faster is to use Incognito mode. It will enable you to browse the web privately and won't load a lot of applications in the background which is good for the speed.

How to browse the web privately and make the site work faster

If you don’t want Google Chrome, Safari, or any other browser to remember your activity, you can browse the web privately in Incognito mode, here's how?

What happens when you browse privately

  • Chrome won't save your browsing history, cookies and site data, or information entered in forms.

  • Files you download and bookmarks you create will be kept.

  • Your activity is hidden from websites you visit, your employer or school, or your internet service provider.

How to go into Incognito Mode using Google Chrome

  • Open Chrome on your computer.

  • Click three vertical dots at the top right corner of the browser.

  • Choose New Incognito Window from the list and press on it.

  • A new window appears. In the top corner, check for the Incognito icon.

You can also use a keyboard shortcut to open an Incognito window:

  • Windows, Linux, or Chrome OS: Press Ctrl + Shift + n.
  • Mac: Press ⌘ + Shift + n.

You can switch between Incognito windows and regular Chrome windows. You'll only browse in private when you're using an Incognito window.

If you're having an issue with any application, testing in incognito can help troubleshoot the problem, but if this doesn't work, now it's time to clean your browser.

How to clean up your browser by deleting cache & cookies

When you use a browser, like Chrome, it saves some information from websites in its cache and cookies. Clearing them fixes certain problems, slow loading, or formatting issues on websites.

How cache & cookies work:

  • Cookies are files created by sites you visit. They make your online experience easier by saving browsing data.

  • The cache remembers parts of pages, like images, to help them open faster during your next visit.

To clear cash & cookies in Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome on your computer.

  2. Click three vertical dots at the top right corner of the browser.

  3. Choose More tools.

  4. Then click on Clear browsing data.

  5. The pop-up window appears.

  6. At the top of the pop-up, select a Time range in which you would like to clear cache & cookies. To delete everything, select All time.

  7. After that, check the boxes next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files.

  8. Click Clear data button.

What happens after you clear cache and cookies?

  • Some settings on sites get deleted. For example, if you were signed in, you’ll need to sign in again.

  • If you turn sync on in Chrome, you’ll stay signed in to the Google Account you’re syncing to in order to delete your data across all your devices.

  • Some sites can seem slower because content, like images, needs to load again.

All those steps above should help you to solve speed or loading issues on your Kajabi, WordPress, LaunchPAD, or any other website. If you still have problems even after you've tested another browser, laptop, or mobile phone you likely might need to do a software update of the browser itself or the devices you are using. And only after that to report to your service provider. Because in most cases there is very little they can do.
